Silk printing VS sticker printing for beer pong tables

Regarding beer pong table surface printing, there are two main techniques: silk printing and sticker printing. In this article, we shall explain the main pros and cons for above two.

Silk printing is a traditional printing technique, which existed one decade before. While sticker printing is a quite new technique, its existence derives from people's preference for more complicated designs. 

Below we shall compare silk and sticker printing in 4 aspects: cost, waterproof feature, scratch resistant feature , and printing quality.

1. Cost: it is widely known that there is template fee in silk printing. So when per design quantity is few , usually less than 100-200pcs, the cost of silk printing shall be higher than sticker printing. However, usually if the design quantity is over 200pcs and the design is not so complicated, silk printing average cost shall be lower than sticker printing. PS: for some very complicated design( usually more than 4-5 colors, or there is design which one color shall overly another color), the silk printing is unable to print, in this case, the design must use sticker printing only.

2.Waterproof feature: silk printing is usually done on the melamine surface, and the melamine wood surface has excellent waterproof feature. For sticker printing, if the sticker material is not waterproof , or if there is space between sticker and inner board, the liquid shall be very easy to come into inner board, which shall severely influence tables's lifetime. So based on above info, silk printing has advantages in waterproof than sticker printing. But our sticker printing beer pong table has excellent performance in waterproof feature when compared with other suppliers. The reasons comes two: some suppliers are using paper as sticker material, while we are using plastic PP and PVC as sticker material, PVC is a waterproof material, which shall help prevent liquid coming deeper. Another reason is that we do have better technique in sticking sticker into inner board, which shall cause almost none space between two layers.

3. Scratch resistant feature: melamine surface is scratch resistant, which means that silk printing has excellent scratch resistant performance. While sticker printing is not so good. Good news : we have developed one scratch resistant beer pong tables. The sticker is using one layer of thicker and more durable plastic , which shall help protect table surfaces from knife and edged products scratches. 

4.Printing quality. The biggest shortcoming of silk printing is its printing quality. As the melamine board surface is very smooth, and has some kind of oil thing in the surface , which cause big difficulty for printing ink to adhere. Especially in winter, when the temperature is low, the printing ink is very difficult to flow. As feedback by customers, the silk printing is very easy to scrape and break. On the contrary, the sticker printing is very excellent in printing . Each design is printed out very vivid and bright, there is seldom color difference .
